Application open to join Startup Maine’s board

Do you want to get more involved in Maine’s entrepreneurship scene and help drive the strategy of the ecosystem?  Consider joining our nonprofit board.  The application can be found here.

Background: Startup Maine used to be a one-time-of-year event (formerly known as Maine Startup and Create Week). Then we evolved into more of a convener role for founders, entrepreneurial support organizations, funders, and service providers — which included events, meetups, and resources.

The organization has focused on three main pillars:

  • Resource promotion (where to find funding, mentors, talent, partners, etc)
  • Events (meetups)
  • Strategy (ecosystem development)

But we’ve realized we need help and we need new ideas — and that means new people! If you’d like to get more involved in Startup Maine, please fill out the form below.

Some food for thought: What do entrepreneurs need? How can we better share the story about Maine’s startup scene – locally and nationally? What kinds of initiatives could we lead to expand the entrepreneurial ecosystem, and what gaps should we fill? How can we help facilitate more collaboration?

Please note that board terms will be for 3 years, with an option to extend after 3 years for another term.

Time commitment: Board members will meet 3-4 times a year. However, if projects/initiatives are determined, a larger role/time commitment will be required and we will aim to dedicate other volunteers to those causes.
Due date: applications will be accepted through December 31, 2023. The board will review applications and conduct interviews in early 2024. Thank you for your interest.
