Patrick Diamond

Patrick Diamond is founder and CEO of Laurel, a global consultancy that builds innovation programs for a better world. Laurel’s team of five innovation leaders help funders build fair and effective strategies that bring about solutions to challenges facing people and the planet. Since 2022, Laurel has shared responsibility for investing $105 million through global health and workforce development innovation programs.

He’s currently working to democratize surgical training in low- and middle-income countries, scale biomedical engineering training across 60 health facilities in Sub-Saharan Africa, and equitably administer grants to experimental career-connected learning organizations in the US.

Prior to Laurel, Patrick served as a founding team member of MIT Solve, which finds and supports social innovators around the world through open innovation challenges. Patrick played an influential role in building Solve’s investment methodology, innovator support program, and business development strategies. He also designed and implemented customized innovation programs for Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Horizon Therapeutics, Intuitive Foundation, Trinity Challenge, and New Profit.

Patrick holds a graduate degree in management and policy from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Maryland. Patrick lives in Portland’s Back Cove neighborhood, a few blocks away from his childhood home.
