As the Chief Operating Officer for Catholic Charities Maine, Dean oversees 14 of the 25 programs that Catholic Charities runs. These include a diverse mix of programs including food banks, farm, recycling center, the refugee programs, dental and orthodontic center, thrift stores, child development centers and education services for blind and visually impaired children. From 2007-2014, Dean was the Executive Director of Bread of Life Ministries which provides shelter for the homeless, food for the hungry, programs for veterans in need, and services to help people change their lives and take personal responsibility. Dean as an ordained Deacon also provides part time ministry services to church communities in Windham, Westbrook and Gorham Maine. Prior to Bread of Life Ministries, Dean ran two parishes, worked as Campus Minister at Colby College, ran the diocesan retreat facility, and was a business executive for 14 years in the field of technology. Dean has been on various community and diocesan boards though out his career. Dean is married to his wife Susan of 34 years and has 2 sons, Jacob a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and Zachary a graduate of Syracuse University.
